About Austin Classical Guitar Society (ACGS)
Austin Classical Guitar Society is a non-profit arts organization based in Austin, Texas. ACGS is a world leader in community service through music on the classical guitar. Concerts, Education, and Outreach form the pillars of ACGS’ broad programming designed to break down cultural, economic and geographic barriers to the power of great music.
ACGS has presented many of the world’s greatest classical guitarists, including John Williams, Pepe Romero, Eliot Fisk, and many more. ACGS has two flagship concert series: The International Concert Series and the Summer Chamber Series, along with a variety of salon concerts, benefit events and festivals. The Educational Outreach Program began in 2001 serving just 15 Austin students in a single school, and has since reached thousands of young people in high-quality daily classes. ACGS Performance outreach programs have provided free concerts for more than 25,000 diverse audience members and ACGS has extensive programming for adult students of guitar. In 2010, ACGS presented its most ambitious project yet, hosting the Guitar Foundation of America’s International Convention. With more than 60 events during one week at Austin’s Long Center for the Performing Arts, and a nightly attendance averaging around 2,000, the critically-acclaimed festival was a huge success.
