Taking Turns

Taking Turns is a level 2 trio. Students will set up with “fixed” right hand fingers. Insist that students play with great tone, pushing through the strings at an oblique angle. Also consistently call attention to overall dynamic levels as well as individual hairpins creating specific phrasing in individual guitar parts.

New concepts:
At this point, students will begin to develop general literacy in using natural notes on strings the first 3 strings. Taking Turns may be the first time that students encounter accidentals. There are explicit instructions is each part. It is also a good idea to take a few minutes and explain the specific functions of sharp, flat, and natural signs.
