At GuitarCurriculum, our philosophy has always been expressive, beautiful music from the very first day, and that the moment they pick up their guitar, they are artists. We continue to look for meaningful artistic involvement throughout student development. That philosophy is where the idea of a Student Portal was conceived. We wanted to be sure that young artists have an anchor of support when they step outside of your classrooms.
This summer, we had the opportunity to work with three young artists to produce more video content for the Student Portal. Teddy McCoy, Jianna Zamora, and Greg Sonnier, members of The Baker 4, brought a refined technical and expressive approach to 10 pieces that are coming to GuitarCurriculum over the next few months.
Watching these three young musicians bring life to music from the GuitarCurriculum library reminded us that artistry doesn’t have to be reserved for experienced players. We want students of all levels to breathe life to the notes on the page, and we hope that no matter what level they’re playing at, that they have the tools to do so.
When you purchase a full subscription to GuitarCurriculum, you receive a unique classroom code that your students can use to access the Student Portal, and once they step inside, there is a library of resources for every step of their development. Since launching the Student Portal, we’ve gotten so much feedback from GuitarCurriculum users that their students are eager for more. We can’t wait to continue giving your young artists the tools they need to continue growing.
To find your classroom code, hover over the arrow in the top right corner of your GuitarCurriculum home page. You should see a list of options, one of which is “Profile.” Once you click on profile, your classroom code is located in the pale blue box at the top left of the page. You and your students can use this code at any time to access the Student Portal.
It was one of our top priorities to be sure that no student data was tracked while using the Student Portal. Your students will never have to worry about plugging in an email, a username, or a password. This resource was designed by and for teachers and we wanted to be sure that school districts all over the world could have faith that we respect student privacy above all else.
Once your young artists have access to the Student Portal, we currently have 30 titles that have a varying combination of PDF sheet music and video tutorials. Each is distinguished by their level and what sort of student resources we currently have available. As we work to build the Student Portal out to its fullest potential, we hope that any feedback you have makes it to our inbox.
When a young artist discovers their expressive voice, even in the earliest stages of learning, a lifelong journey begins and we believe that every student deserves that moment of transformation.
New Content on the Student Portal:
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we're celebrating the rich Latin American roots of classical guitar by adding two of the new Baker 4 Performances of traditional Mexican Folk Songs from our library.
